July 8, 2010
Below is a message from our friends at Think Outside the Bomb about this summer's action camp in New Mexico. NIRS is an endorser of this camp, and we hope as many people as possible will attend and support this important action.
But first, a couple of announcements:
1) Get ready for a National Call-the-Senate Day next Friday, July 16! It's part of a National Lobby Day on nuclear power issues. DC groups will be visiting as many Senate offices as possible Friday with a simple message: vote no on pro-nuclear provisions and amendments on energy and/or climate legislation! As you probably know, we're expecting the Senate to begin considering such legislation later in July. If you can come to DC and visit a Senate office or two, let us know at nirsnet@nirs.org, or call us at 301-270-6477, and we'll try to set up appointments for you. And if not, please be sure to plan to call your Senators next Friday and begin now to mobilize your friends, colleagues and networks so we can hear the phones ringing in every Senate office we visit! We'll have more information and talking points for you early next week, along with a new letter for your Senators as well.
LESS THAN A MONTH TILL CAMP!
WILL YOU BE THERE?

2. July 30 - August 9, 2010 DISARMAMENT SUMMER ENCAMPMENT
in Chimayo, NM - (505) 351 1908
Think Outside the Bomb, the largest youth led nuclear disarmament network in the US, is less than a month away from the Disarmament Summer encampment in Chimayo, NM. This is an amazing event--sign up and join us! If you cannot join us, please take the time and forward this to a few friends you think might want to join!
Disarmament Summer is a cross-cultural alliance of youth working together to re-ignite hope from below and build a grassroots consensus-based creative nonviolent direct action movement. In partnership with the Tribal Environmental Watch Alliance, TEWA Women United, the Multicultural Alliance for a Safe Environment, Products of Atzlan youth group, and the Southwest Indigenous Uranium Forum, we are committed to collective liberation, a sustainable future, and an end to the cycle of nuclear violence - from extraction, to processing, to weapons / power and waste.
The infrastructure for the permaculture camp is being build now! Things are moving, people are registering, the action for August 6th is coming together-- the question now is-- Will you be there?
